I just ordered 4 more of these. The originals lasted 5 years! They still work but some of the batteries have worn out and the exteriors are weathered. Just having rechargeables last 5 years is incredible. I hope these are sold 5 years from now.I have only had these lights installed a couple of weeks but I am really pleased with how bright they are. Our neighborhood does not have streetlights and motion activated security lights are not practical because we always have wind, causing movement in the landscaping. I needed some lights to attach to the fence along the driveway to provide safe passage up to the house. I was originally concerned they would not be bright enough so I only got four to test them out along one stretch of driveway. Now that I can see they're bright enough, I will buy another set for the second half. I mounted them about 25 inches off the ground and they cast bright enough light to avoid tripping in the dark. They were easy to install along our picket fence, although the precise hole locations on the back do require very exact measurements. (measure twice, drill once!) I hope they last but will add to this in a year to see how they have fared. We had a new deck put on our house 2 years ago, we found no matter what we did we couldn't seem to get enough light on half of the stairs and when we have BBQs i the summer I am always worried the kids (or even worse an adult) is going to trip and fall.So I came across these step lights. I bought them unsure if they would work.... well I was totally surprised... they worked great.First they are heavy duty and not junky at all. Nice and strong and easy to use. I set them outside on my deck for a few hours and then tried them out. The light was bright and very strong. These are not your average solar lights. I am super impressed and can't wait for the nice weather so I can try them out. I am also going to buy a few more since they are so awesome!!!These things are just great! I have 10 of them around my house mounted below every window. I love being able to look outside a window at night and see my yard/walkway. It is an added sense of security when I hear a noise and want to see if there is someone/something outside my house. The illuminate the side of my house very well. I've had mine for about 1 month so far. I normally leave my house around 515 for work each day and they are out by then. I don't know at point during the night they lose their power. At the very least, they are going strong when I go to bed. The absolute latest that I ever get to bed on a weekend is around 1130 and they are still going at that time. This is really a great idea for low lighted walkways, kids and guest bathrooms or camping. The installation is very simple, take your measurements and mark where to drill. It comes with an installation kit that includes anchors and screws for each solar light. I would suggest placing them every third or fourth step or so on alternating sides of the staircase. I plan on using these when we go camping again next also. The lights pull off of the wall easily to be recharged and the instructions say to replace the AAA rechargeable battery about 1 time per year. That is very low maintenance and low cost. If you don't have stairs, it would be ideal for a bathroom night light for guests or children. The light provides more than sufficient lighting for one bathroom. They are small and will not take much space to install. The quality is excellent and I am very pleased with these lights!Have purchased these exact lights in the past. Recently ordered 4 more packs of 4 (for a total of 16).Only issue I have is that 3 packs of 4 (each set of 4 packaged in plain brown box had clear glass lenses (actually plastic lens I believe). The 4th pack of 4 (packaged in a graphic colorful box) had frosted lenses (similar to the ones I purchased years ago. Not really a big issue except the frosted lenses seem to diffuse the brightness while the clear lenses seem a bit brighter and whiter. All had a series of 3 led’s but when using all on same stairway you can tell the difference. Not enough , for me, to warrant returning. Just wish they had sent 4 similar packaged boxes. Bottom line: 12 lights with clear lenses and 4 frosted. There is a difference in light output.I ordered two of these light kits, eight lights total, and installed five lights on my deck. Of the five, one has issues with the electric eye, it does not turn on at night although it runs all day when the sun is out. The other three I have not yet installed, figured I may need to send all four back for replacements. They are sturdy so might hold up, who knows. The mounting is via a couple of tiny screws which are supplied, I wanted to swap out for larger ones, however, the slot in the bottom for mounting is too small do allow this. The instructions state that the battery will most likely need to be replaced in a year, something else I did not know when I purchased them. The light is quite bright considering they are solar powered and do last several hours into the nighttime darkness.Due to the one faulty unit and questionable mounting option, I reduced the rating from the four stars I would otherwise have given them. There you have it!I ordered 4 packs of the lights. Other reviews said that some lights were defective. All of my lights worked when I installed them. One of the lights failed after about a week. The switch on the back would not stay on. Other than that and the fact that I had to replace a battery on one of them, they are working as advertised. I use them to light steps and to give some illumination on a patio. The brightness is appropriate for how I am using them. I mounted them on cast stone blocks with double-faced tape which is working well. I advise using the screws to mount them on wood since the tape does not work as well there.Product is definitely not as bright as advertised. Even in full sun charging all day, not very bright at night. Best I can describe is more of a "glow" then a "light". The stock photo lighting up the garage/stairs is definitely not accurate and terribly photoshopped (attached). They are smaller then the photos provided as they are about the size of the palm of your hand in real life. Somehow in the photo they are photoshopped to be the size of the garage window??? How is this possible?Easy to install thoughGood, simple units, I mounted them to spot locations with silicon sealant. We'll see how that lasts over the winter.
